A space for recovery for those who have held and continue to hold up this world

For whom we are creating this centre

War leaves its mark not only on cities and houses — it leaves its mark on the body, mind and heart of a person.
That is why the main focus of AMURT Ukraine is currently on creating a rehabilitation centre for:

  • soldiers who have returned from the front;

  • refugees and internally displaced persons;

  • volunteers who worked for a long time in conditions of exhaustion and danger;

  • people who have lost their homes, loved ones, security and support.

We create a space where people don’t just ‘recover’,
but return to themselves.

Our goal

To build a centre where physical, psychological and emotional rehabilitation will take place in a comprehensive, dignified and professional manner.

A place where:

  • pain is not ignored,

  • trauma is not silenced,

  • and people are not reduced to a diagnosis.

We are not building a hospital.
We are building a place to live after the war.

What the rehabilitation centre will include

Psychological support

  • individual therapy;

  • work with PTSD;

  • group meetings and support communities.

Physical rehabilitation

  • body therapy;

  • restorative practices;

  • programmes for reducing chronic tension and pain.

Emotional recovery

  • a safe space to process loss;

  • support in working with emotions;

  • restoring the ability to feel life.

A space of silence and stability

Where there is no shooting.
Where you can breathe.
Where you can be yourself.

Why it matters right now

Thousands of people return from war not only with injuries, but with a constant war inside them.

Without rehabilitation:

  • trauma accumulates,

  • aggression increases,

  • relationships are destroyed,

  • life is devalued.

A rehabilitation centre is not a luxury.
It is necessary for the country’s recovery.

How you can help

Your support means:

  • a brick in the wall of this centre;

  • an hour of psychological assistance for a soldier;

  • a recovery session for a volunteer;

  • a chance at a pain-free life for someone who has lost everything.

You can:

  • make a donation;

  • share information;

  • help with materials, resources or expertise.

We are not building a project.

We are building a point of return to life.

We don’t dream — we build

Our rehabilitation centre already has a foundation — both physical and human.

In May 2022, we purchased a 2-hectare plot of land in the village of Sokilcha, Zhytomyr region, located in a natural environment near a lake and an oak forest. We knew right away that this would be a place of renewal, tranquillity, and inner strength.

The site included an unfinished three-storey building with an area of about 300 m².
During the period 2022–2024, active construction and interior renovation work continued.

As of today:

  • the building has been fully completed;

  • the building has been officially commissioned;

  • the centre can accommodate up to 25 people (rehabilitation patients and staff) at a time;

  • basic conditions for living and working with people have been created;

  • 4 rehabilitation trips were conducted for volunteers in 2024–2025;

  • a garden was planted;

  • a vegetable garden has been laid out;

  • a greenhouse was built to provide food and involve rehabilitees in restorative work;

  • the formation of a self-sufficient ecosystem has begun.

This is no longer just an idea.
This is a living, working centre.

Completing the heart of the rehabilitation centre

We have already passed the most difficult stage — we have started construction.
The frame of the veranda-dining room has already been erected. Construction work is ongoing.

Now the next step is to bring the space to a state where it can accommodate more people, keep them warm, feed them, and give them a sense of home.

To this end, we are raising funds for a specific list of works. File

WHAT HAS ALREADY BEEN DONE:

  • the frame of the veranda-dining room has been erected;
  • some of the materials have been purchased;

HOW YOU CAN GET INVOLVED

You can:

  • support us financially with any amount;

  • join the construction;

  • donate materials;

  • assist with equipment;

  • spread the word.

Without a veranda-dining room, the size of the group we can work with is very small

We are expanding.

Supporting means becoming part of the recovery process

A rehabilitation centre is not just walls.
It is warmth.
It is a safe space.
It is a return to life.

We are currently completing the construction of the veranda-dining room — a key space without which the centre cannot function properly.
